feel something constant under my feet.

just a slight introduction to a few things i'll be seeing every day.

this is our elevator door. no, i'm really not kidding. you should see the inside. ha ha.
the outside doors/gates to scala 2.
the doors are metal, and require extreme care in ensuring they don't slam.
it's loud. believe me, we know. ha.
danger of death. danger of electrocution. perfect.
amanda and myself in the elevator. we were a little skeptical. obviously.

the view out our balcony is a little something like this. and that's what ours looks like from outside. the same.

i'm still working on realizing that this is real life. it doesn't really feel real. but i love it. really, i do.
and our apartment is honestly quite charming i think.
quirky. and has a musty mossy smell to it. but charming.
"cause it makes my apartment smell mossayyy" -george, ygm.
you've got mail is always applicable.
anyway.
a few peeks at the apartment.
we're in scala 2 (the extra apartment), so it's just me, amanda, and roslyn.
[roslyn isn't here yet because her first flight got cancelled. so sad, huh?]
also. our kitchen curtains look lacey.
can i say that again?
lace-looking curtains?
see here.
i know. i'm seriously loving it.
the kitchen window/door out to the balcony.
the smallest stove and oven you'll ever see. literally.
pretty much the smallest kitchen ever.
nice and quaint.
cute, huh?
this is the living room.
a view from the front door. i'm not really sure why it's blurry. but yes.
where the light is coming out is the kitchen.
the next door on the left is the bedroom.
and straight back is the bathroom.
bathroom door. ha. and the handle seen on every door here, or some variation very similar.

also, there are little relics or pictures all over the apartment. romanian orthodox, i'm guessing. but yeah. it's slightly hilarious.
i don't have any pictures of the outside door or the gate doors that are right outside our door to ours and 2 other apartments on this floor. sometimes i wonder if there's even anyone there. but i just heard water running, so i guess there is. ha. we'll see. there's no light by our gate, so amanda and i kind of freaked out a little last night trying to unlock and lock the doors with it so dark. like, it's kind of creepy at night. i won't even lie. but not bad during the day. also, unlocking and locking the doors is intensive. ha. i don't even really understand what it is that makes it so much more complicated. you have to turn like 2 or 3 times around before it goes.
and here's a few pictures of scala 1 (the main byu apartment) and from their balcony.
 kylee, breanne, and rebecca.
 melissa and michael.
 hala centrala--the shopping center.
our apartment is right around that corner on the far right side.
 pigeons! they're everywhere.

we get stared at whenever we're out. which makes sense. people are kind of stiff from first glance. and no one smiles here. or even greets each other. they just do their thing. but i'm excited to get to know people more as time goes on. especially once we've gone to the branch sunday and everything. as well as started at the orphanage, which will hopefully be soon. i love mario and teo, and having mario will be a lifesaver for sure.
today we ventured over to hala centrala, which is the grocery store, essentially. ha. ha. that's all i have to say about that. and in a little bit we're going to walk around nearby a bit to kind of get to know the area better. it's all just so foreign. not really strange, because everything is natural. but foreign, without a doubt. it takes getting used to. obviously.
mostly i'm just excited to get into more of a routine. i feel kind of like i'm just floating through in a daze right now.
also, i love the way the streets work. like, the pedestrians and cars. they drive safely, it's just much faster paced than in america. and a lot more honking than in salt lake. ha. steve would love it, actually. i could never drive here, but being in a car is slightly hilarious. and on foot is the most common. naturally.
welp. got to go!
i really am sincerely loving it, even if it is quirky. the quirks are charming and endearing. mostly just shell-shocked. ha.
i'm in love with europe.
and romania.
astă este tot pentru acum.
